Motivational Monday! ~ 5/28/12

Happy Memorial Day!

What better way to commemorate our loved ones lost in the battle to keep our country free than to have a motivational quote dedicated to them? Thank you to all our brave service men and women of America. There is no one braver and more willing than you.

Very true. Too often do we think that true success is in surpassing all others on our journey to personal success, but how would you define our service men and women? I would define them as true heroes, true success, true glory.
Remember to have a positive day! :)

Hugs,
Lauren

My New Car! :)

Hello there! So I thought I would do another easy-going post and this one is very exciting to me because it's about the purchase of my second car!!!

Here's a couple pictures of my first AND second car! :)

My first car was a blue 2000 Saturn SL2. I owned it, ironically, for EXACTLY 1 1/2 years. It was 12 years old and had over 100,000 miles on it, so it wasn't in the greatest condition. I was lucky to get that much out of it - but had to repair a few things along the way, so when I was able to finally save up enough money (and take out a loan) I was able to purchase a better, more reliable car.

This is my second and current car. It's a tan 2007 Hyundai Elantra. It's only 5 years old (that's 7 years newer than my first car) and only has 46,000 miles on it. I got a really good deal on it, plus a good deal on the trade-in value of my first car, so I was able to get this, along with a loan. But I'm so happy with it - it's a little wider and higher than my first car, which makes it more comfortable but takes some getting used to. But it's a smooth ride, has electrical windows AND doors (my Saturn only had electrical door locks) and I just really like how it looks. It just looks more sophisticated and I'm hoping to take this car with me when I move out of my parents house to the real world! :)

So there you have it - tell me what you think and which car you like the looks and sounds of better! :)

Motivational Monday! ~ 5/21/12

Hey everyone! I'm so happy to say that my first Spring semester of college is finally over and done with! I still feel like it was the beginning of February and I was thinking of how long it would take. Now here I am, and it's almost the end of May, and it feels like it flew by, even with all the difficulties of biology - which I'm very happy to say, I DID get the grade I needed and I am estatic with my grades. My GPA went up and everything! :)

Anyways, enjoy the quote and have a fantastic week!

I thought this was a fitting quote. It took a lot of time, hard work, a courage to keep going with this past semester of college, especially biology. But I did it and earned awesome grades which in turn means I'm one step closer to becoming the nurse I've always dreamed of. I'm sure there's plenty of people who have given up by now because trust me, it's a lot harder than you'd think. But I haven't. Therefore, my today is going to class, doing my homework, and getting good grades so tomorrow I can be a successful nurse when others weren't so lucky. :)
Remember to have a positive day! :)

Lauren

P.S. My summer class was cancelled due to not enough people signing up for it, which at first made me sad, but now I'm settled into Summer mode and I'm pretty happy about it! That means more videos and blog posts await you guys! ^_^

Motivational Monday! ~ 5/14/12

Hey guys! Time for another Motivational Monday pick-me-up! I know this is a little later than usual, so hopefully if you had a crummy Monday, this will help it turn around! I was busy taking final exams this morning, that's why it's being posted during the late afternoon. I was just a little nervous! ;)

Enjoy!!

Good mindset - to be a failure, at least you tried doing something you genuinely love. That's more than someone who settled for less from the thought of failing could say. So if you have a passion for something, go for it until it really is the end. Even then, if you still didn't make it, whether that be a promotion, graduating college with the major you intended, or something else, at least you gave it your all and could say you accomplished doing that.
Remember to have a positive day! :)

Lauren

Motivational Monday! ~ 5/7/12

Hey everyone! I have a great quote today that I hope will inspire people to see failure as a success more often! ;)

This is so true to me right now. I have been having the hardest time I ever have in my whole life of schooling this semester with Biology. One of my passions is to be a nurse, but in order to get into nursing school, you need to do well in TONS of sciences, which ironically enough, is my weak spot. I ended up failing the first couple tests and with three tests remaining, the pressure was on to get at least a "C" or better in order to continue on to other science courses. I've never been a straight-A student, but this stuff doesn't come easy to me. I've studied more for this single class than I have studied for anything else. I have my fourth exam today, just a week before the final - here's hoping I get a good grade! :)
